You May Not Even Have to Take a Camera

There was a time when, if you wanted to take good photos on a trip with your family or friends, you simply had to take along a professional camera with you. That need has been minimized to a great extent these days thanks to the improvement in smartphone cameras. So if you have a modern smartphone, preferably a flagship one, you may not have to take along any other kind of camera with you at all.

Great Image Quality

Phone camera these days have such good quality that it is hard to distinguish between a photo taken with a phone and one taken with a dedicated compact camera. Everything from color reproduction, noise control, and level of detail has been improved in phone cameras over the past few years. Phones like the Google Pixel 2 XL have great image quality, as a result, and are perfectly capable of becoming your primary travel camera if you don’t want to carry an extra item.

Multiple Lenses

Smartphone cameras now even come with multiple camera lenses on the back. While some of these are useless gimmicks, others are actually quite helpful. For example, you can have a normal lens alongside a dedicated wide angle, telephoto, or monochrome lens in most phones that come with dual lens setups.

Apps for Everything

There’s a smartphone app for practically everything these days, and photography is no different. You can download something like Snapseed and edit RAW files if your phone allows RAW shooting. You can tweak everything about a photo right from that one app and share it instantly from your phone. You can even add HDR effects to your photos. These won’t be as good as using a dedicated HDR photo editor like Aurora HDR 2018, of course, but come in handy when you need to add some extra punch to your landscape or architecture shots.

So if you don’t want the hassle of carrying a camera with you on your trip, especially a big one, then using your smartphone for any photographic needs is a very viable option at present time.
